Riyadh, March 2019: The National Company for the Unified Purchase of Medicines, Devices and Medical Supplies “NUPCO” held, on Tuesday, 5 March 2019, in Al-Khuzami Hall in Riyadh, its annual party, as part of its efforts to achieve communication with partners and relevant parties and publicize the company’s strategy to regulate the unified purchase in a way that contributes to By developing health care and improving the efficiency of government spending.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of Nubco’s strategic partners in a number of Saudi government agencies and universities, and a representative of the Ministry of Health also participated, and a number of representatives of relevant government agencies. Where the ceremony witnessed the signing of 5 agreements, including two agreements with the Ministry of Health and stipulated the allocation of budgets Procurement of medicines, devices and medical supplies in the Ministry of Health to NUPCO, transferring ownership of the main medical stores of the Ministry of Health to NUPCO, in addition to signing a memorandum of understanding to study a project to transfer medical supply and supply chains of medical services to the armed forces and hospitals of the Ministry of Defense to NUPCO, and an agreement to enhance Joint cooperation between the Expenditure Efficiency Center and NUPCO, and another agreement with the Security Forces Hospital to implement the online marketplace platform.

During the ceremony, Mr. Fahad Al-Shibl, CEO of NUPCO, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the guests of the ceremony, representatives of the participating entities, media and employees of the company, and expressed his happiness by signing agreements with the ministries of health, defense and interior, which confirms the state’s efforts to develop the health sector and enable government purchases to support the goals of Vision 2030. Also He praised the cooperation of the relevant authorities to activate partnerships to serve the health care sector and contribute to support the goals that Nubco seeks to achieve.

During the speech, Al-Shibl reviewed NUPCO’s strategy to develop a unified purchasing system for medicines, devices and medical supplies, to meet the need of health facilities with the latest medical products at competitive prices and to provide high-quality logistical services. Al Shibl pointed out to Nubco’s role as a valuable supply chain that provides the highest levels of quality and transparency in the management and supply of medical supplies for health facilities, and works with its partners to provide exceptional care for all according to a new approach based on the power of integrated technology and communication.

Al-Shibl affirmed that NUPCO works within a health system to improve the health care sector and enable local content and raise the efficiency of government spending in the health sector and its organization by establishing an advanced system of unified procurement management that helped health agencies provide their need for medicines, devices and medical supplies. Where NUPCO contributed during the past year only to providing 7,919 medical items with the participation of 47 government health agencies in which the share of national factories was 17.6%. He pointed out that NUPCO is based on an infrastructure with modern technologies that enhance digital transformation, automation and systems development to achieve business efficiency and meet current and future needs. NUPCO also depends on qualified national talents that manage all operational and administrative operations, after the percentage of localization of jobs in the company jumped from 70% in 2017 to 90% in 2018.

Al-Shibil highlighted the volume of projects and initiatives that Nubco is working on during the current year, which are the launch of the unified directory of medical items, and the smart contract management system to regulate the relationship between suppliers and health authorities, in addition to the service, my description and the e-market platform.

For his part, Mr. Sultan Al-Murshid, Director General of Marketing and Corporate Communication at NUPCO, pointed out the importance of such meetings that contribute to establishing cooperation with the relevant authorities and open new horizons for communication with media institutions, which contributes to enhancing the value of NUPCO within the media landscape as a national company concerned with the development of health care at the level of the Kingdom and works According to strategic partnerships to stimulate the national industry to enable local content and employ national cadres in a manner that supports the Vision 2030 and meets the aspirations of the state to enable government purchases and encourage additional investments that achieve the required economic diversity.

It is noteworthy that the National Company for the Unified Purchase of Medicines, Devices and Medical Supplies “NUPCO” was established with the aim of providing medicines, devices and medical supplies through a unified procurement system for the benefit of government health sectors, in addition to transportation and storage operations of high quality and efficiency, and is wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund.

Tashkent – The National Unified Procurement Company (nupco) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in unified procurement, health supply chain management, digital transformation, and capacity building, contributing to healthcare systems development, exchange of expertise, and healthcare services improvement in both countries.

 

The signing of the MoU took place during the official visit of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel, to the Republic of Uzbekistan. This visit also saw the signing of several agreements and MoUs aimed at expanding health and investment cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Uzbekistan, reflecting the strength of bilateral relations and the two countries’ commitment to developing a strategic partnership in the health sector.

The memorandum aims to leverage nupco’s expertise in developing unified procurement systems and healthcare supply chains, and to enhance cooperation in inventory management, digital transformation, data exchange, capacity building, localization, and investment. This includes conducting joint workshops, preparing technical studies, and developing a roadmap for priority initiatives, all contributing to sustainable outcomes that support the development of the healthcare sector in both countries.

 

As the national arm for unified procurement and healthcare supply in the Kingdom, nupco continues developing the healthcare supply system through an integrated operational model that has contributed to increasing the efficiency of supply chains, enhancing the sustainability of medical product availability, and improving spending efficiency. This supports the objectives of Health Sector Transformation Program and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
