Nupco and Saudi Telecom sign a memorandum to benefit from blockchain technologies in the health supply and catering sector

On the sidelines of the GITEX Technology Exhibition 2018, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Company for the Unified Purchase of Medicines, Devices and Medical Supplies (NOBCO) and Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to take advantage of blockchain technologies in the health supply and catering sector with the aim of using the latest technologies to drive innovation in providing technical solutions. The agreement was signed by NUPCO by Mr. Al Amin Al Hazmi, Executive Vice President, and from Saudi Telecom, Mr. Riyad Bin Saeed Moawad, Vice President for Government and Corporate Sector Sales.

The agreement aims at cooperation between the two parties to bring blockchain technology in relation to the modern innovations that this technology provides in managing the supply chain and warehouse and creating a new and unified digital market for the provision of medicines and medical supplies for health and pharmaceutical facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to monitoring systems using Smart Contract technology Provided by the blockchain platform.

For his part, Al-Hazmi stressed that Nubco seeks to take advantage of modern technologies to achieve its strategic goals in supporting government health agencies and raise the efficiency of the health supply and provision sector in the Kingdom as one of the main pillars to improve health services in line with Vision 2030, as Nubco specializes in medical supply and supply chain services in The governmental health sector, which was established to achieve sustainable development and the participation of health sectors in developing the level of services and raising their efficiency in the health sector. He added: “We are always looking to adopt new technologies. Where “Block Chain technology” is one of the promising technologies that will help in developing government and private transactions, “noting that Block Chain technology has the ability to address many challenges facing various sectors, the most important of which is the health sector, stressing that the partnership with the Saudi Telecom Company Horizons open to provide creative and specialized solutions in various fields because of the company’s high expertise and national cadres.

Mr. Riyad Moawad also explained that this partnership is of great importance due to the presence of different solutions in the field of communications and information technology at Saudi Telecom Company, which accelerates the launch of various services, in addition to being a pioneer in the field of technologies and blockchain, and has ready and applied solutions. Stressing that the Saudi Telecom Company will work to build, develop and innovate modern technology solutions for the country’s sectors, in order to help implement “Block Chain” technology that will chart the future of digital transformation in the Kingdom, indicating that the company seeks to be the leader in transferring this global technology to the Saudi market.

With the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia adopting modern technologies, which contribute to raising the pace of digital transformation through the use of modern technologies to provide efficiency and effectiveness in all transactions, Saudi Telecom has taken serious steps to adopt blockchain technology, and has worked to transfer knowledge to the Kingdom through many of the Specialized agreements and meetings in this field.

This agreement comes from Nubco’s duties and responsibilities to enhance its contribution to raising the efficiency of the national economy and improving the productive and organizational efficiency of public health services and adaptation to international economic developments, in addition to benefiting from the application of blockchain technology in its extensive operations in the health supply and provision sector in the Kingdom, which was recently launched Within the new strategy of NUPCO, which included a number of technical initiatives to raise the efficiency of the health supply and supply sector and provide effective solutions to its clients from government health agencies.

It is worth mentioning that the National Company for the Unified Purchase of Medicines, Devices and Medical Supplies “NUPCO” was established with the aim of providing medicines, devices and medical supplies through a unified procurement system for the benefit of government health sectors, in addition to transportation and storage operations of high quality and efficiency, and that the company is wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund.

Tashkent – The National Unified Procurement Company (nupco) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in unified procurement, health supply chain management, digital transformation, and capacity building, contributing to healthcare systems development, exchange of expertise, and healthcare services improvement in both countries.

 

The signing of the MoU took place during the official visit of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel, to the Republic of Uzbekistan. This visit also saw the signing of several agreements and MoUs aimed at expanding health and investment cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Uzbekistan, reflecting the strength of bilateral relations and the two countries’ commitment to developing a strategic partnership in the health sector.

The memorandum aims to leverage nupco’s expertise in developing unified procurement systems and healthcare supply chains, and to enhance cooperation in inventory management, digital transformation, data exchange, capacity building, localization, and investment. This includes conducting joint workshops, preparing technical studies, and developing a roadmap for priority initiatives, all contributing to sustainable outcomes that support the development of the healthcare sector in both countries.

 

As the national arm for unified procurement and healthcare supply in the Kingdom, nupco continues developing the healthcare supply system through an integrated operational model that has contributed to increasing the efficiency of supply chains, enhancing the sustainability of medical product availability, and improving spending efficiency. This supports the objectives of Health Sector Transformation Program and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
